Anyone interested in learning more about dealing with children/youth with trauma behaviors.
Suggested: adoptive parents, children ministry volunteers, and teachers.
Statistics tell us that almost half the nation’s children have experienced at least one or more types of serious childhood trauma. This translates into an estimated 34,825,978 children nationwide. Even more concerning, nearly a third of U.S. youth age 12-17 have experienced two or more types of childhood adversity that are likely to affect their physical and mental health as adults. The good news is that if resilience is nurtured with them, and modeled and provided to them by their family and community, the more they are able to respond well to the stress they experience. Learn more about what trauma is, how it effects the children’s behavior, and what you can do to help support resilience in this vulnerable population.
